The Turnbull Center is engaged with OPB on a number of fronts including the
Maynard Orme internship, which provides a SOJC Electronic Media major a
paid, full-time internship experience for three months.

The Turnbull Center was honored this year to co-underwrite the Portland
Arts and Lectures speech by Will Shortz, crossword puzzle editor for The New
York Times.
The Oregonian:
The Turnbull Center, among other activities, worked with The Oregonian this
year to welcome more than forty photojournalists at the Turnbull Center for
a celebration of Pacific Northwest photojournalism. The event, held in
conjunction with the National Press Photographers Association summit,
included Pulitzer-Prize winners and photo ethicist John Long.
UO Climate Change Initiative:

This year the Turnbull Center worked with the UO Climate Change Initiative
to welcome nearly 90 of the country’s leading climate change journalists and
scientists to downtown Portland to discuss the latest global warming data –
and how journalists can do a better job of covering it.

This year the Turnbull Center will sponsor the first nonfiction main stage
at Wordstock and assist with the Community of Writers teaching program.
Last year, the Turnbull Center participated in several activities and
sponsored a lecture by Ira Glass of This American Life.

The Turnbull Center often hosts the Portland Advertising Federation for
board meetings and consults with the PAF on issues facing today's
advertising professionals.
Public Relations Society of America: http://www.prsa-portland.org/
The Turnbull Center works with the Portland Metro Chapter of the Public
Relations Society of America to organize events and classes for the metro
area's communications professionals.
The Northwest Institute for Social Change: http://www.nwisc.com/
The Turnbull Center works with The Northwest Institute for Social Change to
help them advance their goal of turning student passion for the arts and
media into critical thought skills and into careers in the public realm. In
2008 the Turnbull Center will host and co-teach certain NISC classes.
